An Old Friend

Tue, 12/10/2013 - 20:58 -- Madam

We met in kindergarten

When she was new to the town.

We instantly became friends

That were inseparable.

We went into first grade

And everything was great.

Sleepovers and laughs

Seemed endless.

Going through school,

We never fought once.

Girl drama always existed

But we stayed united against it.

Middle school came and

Everything was fine,

Until girl drama caught

Up with us finally.

Soon it wasn’t just us,

More friends, then groups.

I think I realized that we

Are more different than I thought.

Gradually we grew apart,

Although it hurt us.

We knew it was for the best,

Because we couldn’t stay this way.

We are still friends,

But never like we once were.

I wonder what would be if we stayed strong.

I wonder if you do too.
