old flame

Location

little fire,

lick me with

your seductive flames.

soothe me with

your warm embrace.

you mesmerize me

with your every step

as you dance along

to a song of your own.

beautiful to look at,

with your oranges,

yellows, and blues,

protecting me from the cold

with your over-the-top

temperatures.

light of my life,

warmth in my heart,

i need you more than

words can describe,

but i cannot get too close.

i can never quite have you,

for if i try,

if i reach out my hand

and try to grab hold

of this element i desire,

of this wonderful fire,

there’s nothing i’d earn

but a black, charred heart

and a sad, severe burn.
