Oh Teacher, My Teacher

Oh teacher, my teacher,

You were truly an inspiration to me.

I am heartbroken to learn of your passing.

You left us too soon, I believe.

You touched the lives of many,

in that quiet ballet classroom, you see,

Your improvisation was magical.

This news is too shocking, it simply cannot be.

You taught us how to be alive while we dance,

Your organic movement brought so much joy to thee,

I still do not believe you could be dead,

But I have hope in knowing your soul is free.

Oh teacher, my teacher,

You left this world too early.

You left behind thousands of students and your expecting wife.

I will always cherish your original choreography.

Oh teacher, my teacher,

A few of your wise words stuck with me:

You always reminded us to have passion,

And to "do it with love" to succeed.
