Oh How I Appreciate You!

College applications were coming, basically knocking at my door,

And their fees ranging in value that I couldn’t afford.

But you encouraged me to apply to them anyways,

And you said this will help me in the future to get a good job that pays.

You always helped me when I didn’t know what to do,

Ms. Henriette, oh how I appreciate you!

In 2017, my mother died leaving me parentless,

You put all your efforts in and gave me the best and nothing less.

You were the fuel to my fire when I thought everything was ruined,

I took your advice and my aspiration soon after became illumined.

You always helped me when I didn’t know what to do,

Ms. Henriette, oh how I appreciate you!

With your support, I have made it to the unthinkable,

To Cornell University where everyone’s intelligence is oh so original.

You are more than a mentor to me, you are my friend,

And I hope to make you and my family proud when my journey at Cornell comes to an end.

You always helped me when I didn’t know what to do,

Ms. Henriette, oh how I appreciate you!
