Ode to Summer

Season of relation to the sun
With a clear blue ocean from above.
Sandy shores become filled with fun
As stars shine brightly like those in love.
A heat that penetrates through the night
Flourishing and devastating growth.
From the light of a blazing fireball.
Birds have settled in from their spring flight
And flowers prosper from a bee’s great oath.
The heat will seem to never have a fall
And days filled fully with light.

Summer is a fiery love affair
Hot and passionate to the bitter end.
With promises to forever be a pair
But clouds loom over when it’s time to end.
Its hearts flame flickers into nothingness
Leaving only a heartbroken land.
That’s fooled by the suns own seductiveness
Slapped down by the autumn wind’s hand.
Love that will fade through season’s mighty reign
But will spring up eternally anew
With passion equaled to the seasons brew.

As summer fades and leaves begin to fall
The color green becomes as rare as gold
Days become short answering the moon call
And nights become entangled in the cold.
Calm summer days turn to windy frays
As clouds roll in from far off lands unseen.
Fires begin to crackle as skies turn gray
Augmented with power the sun’s fiend
Clouds become the suns untimely bane
Hiding all the glories of this season
But crucial for eternal liaison.
