An Ode to Eos, to Dawn

Come, let me tell you a story,

My weary brother,

Come, and let me teach you something;

The Night is long, the road is tough,

And the stars are too distant,

simply not warm enough.

Promise me you won't let it get to you,

look up, look up, look up-

For the Sun is around the corner,

and oh how it weeps for you.

My brother,

what lies did Nyx, the Night, tell you?

Come, let me tell you of Dawn,

Come, and I'll show you where my hope for you

came from.

For the Night is long, the road is tough,

But my brother I promise,

it's all a bluff,

Meant to tear you down,

and blind you,

Meant to break you down,

and confine you.

For Nyx is a jealous one,

envious of your ability to see,

of your ability to grow,

ability to breathe.

So like a moonless night,

She surrounds,

And once you've lost sight,

In her darkness, you'll drown.

I know she promised many things,

Status, fame, or wealth,

She promised empty, unfulfilling things,

Things you thought you needed.

But my brother,

Don't you know there is more?

Don't you know that this Night won't last?

You're almost there, almost through,

The Sun hasn't given up on you.

Eos is coming, and she doesn't care

about your Night-filled past.

Eos is coming, she is near,

See the sun breaking through the clouds?

That's her saying I've come to rescue you

Brother, my weary brother,

your Night is done,

Bask in the warmth, and soak up the Sun

Let in the Light, for Eos is loving

Let in the Light, for Eos is healing,

She is the Dawn, your beautiful and new

beginning.
