She has changed us.

We used to have pride,

known who we were

but she changed that.

The head of the creature that

scandal and corruption created,

she turned our everyday holding into

a cold, white washed cage.

Some try to cover the white

with brightness

but those only add a band aid to

the full body lacerations.

Cowboy boots make her believe

that she embodies our school,

knew our pride,

but she can’t begin to admit that she

knows nothing of us.

She stands as a queen might,

looking down her nose,

nothing that can be called a smile

on her lips.

Nothing of education rests on

her mind,

but changing a system that has

lived for years

changing all we’ve known.

Up in her gold lined office

does she not know how much

dislike and distrust is thrown in

her direction?

She holds the title but

none of the respect.

Large words of pride

fall on deaf ears

we all know how little she understands

of us and how little she will try.

We know, but she still changes us.
