Not Enough

I love you
But not enough
To give up the universe inside me
Let its planets fall out of orbit
And it's cities grow overtaken by weeds
Not enough
To let the magic of my fingertips
Turn yellow and calloused
From holding too many cigarettes
I will not reshape the sculpture

I’ve worked so very hard on

For years to get it right

Only to allow you to shave off

The pieces you don’t like

I will paint it with the brightest colors

And only the ones that make my heart sing

Although I want what’s best for you

One who thinks I’m

Not enough

Is simply not enough for me
