No Filter (I'm Nothing)

Location

I raise the camera,

Tilt it to the right,

Use a filter and capture the perfect light,

I look beautiful,

Take away the special effects,

I'm nothing,

Just your average Jane,

My hair is flat and my acne is bad,

The effects show you what you want to see,

Because without them you wouldn't look at me,

You don't know me,

Without the effects i'm nothing,

You see these scars on my arms you think I'm cutting,

What you don't know is my dad was abusive,

You don't know the hurt from being pushed through a window pane

Without the effects I'm nothing,

The doctors say with time they will fade,

But the scars on my heart will forever remain,

Without the effects I'm nothing

No fIlters to hide my shame
