Next time

My head hangs low, but I know
I've come so far just to be apart
Of something true,
nothing borrowed, nothing blue, just you.
I mean the moon's gaze,
Yeah it's speechless,
But you give me the reason
To talk and be free!
It's nothing to be ashamed of,
Yet their snickers echo
Placing in my hands a reason to let go
Of your hand, and
Everything we believe in.
But I feared Him first
And He gave me you.
Isn't that the white picket fence
Fronting skies of blue?
Love is patient,
Love is kind,
That means He is and was
And forever will be mine.
And as for you,
I'm so sorry to say
You'll be the silver
To His gold display.
But don't you worry!
You'll always be my worldly one.
Through every toss and turn alone
Know that our new life has begun.
And as for their laughter,
With His strength it won't phase me.
I smile right back
Thinking about Him and him only.
Their makeup hides
only what actions can show;
So the outside may be burning
But their words caress your mind with snow.
Don't fall into their petty smiles,
For it's all just an act
To deliver you from what we have now
And into their indecent trap.
Stand guard my soul,
For it's all yours now.
With Him at your side,
To pick you up from the ground.
Hold me now
And cherish me always
Smile down at me now
And all of my days.
Pick my head up
Whenever it may be low
Just like right now
So next time you'll know.
