Neeko & Lisa

Location

We met in the spring,

Under the cherry blossom tree

You passed me by,

I caught your eye.

We sat together in understanding silence

As a few flowers began to fall, you catch one and draw it near,

With a silly grin, you tuck it behind my ear.

As the night comes near, goodbye does too

You realize this as well, and help me up.

The first words you say to me,

“Let’s meet again, here.”

With a hug you turn to leave.

“Wait!” I call “What’s your name?”

“Neeko.”

“Lisa.”

 We leave our separate ways.

Summer was a wonderful time,

And just the sight of you makes me feel sublime

We play, run, jump and spin.

Being with you makes me feel young

Call this love, but it’s as blissful as the warm sun.

Under the cherry blossom tree you make my heart skip with a cool whisper from you

“I love you, Lisa.”

The summer heat just rose to my face as I timidly repeat the lines that have been etched in my heart since the spring,

“I love you too, Neeko.”

The falling leaves bring tears to my eyes.

Tears of joy, and sadness

I need to tell him.

The next time we meet, I’m silent.

“Lisa, what’s wrong?” he takes my hand and wills me to speak.

“I got accepted, Neeko.”

He understands my silence and falls into his own. As the leaves fall all around,

We won’t meet again. Or will we?

The future is so uncertain, like the season to come.

Winter was lonely. I no longer had him.

We wrote and called, but it wasn’t the same.

Christmas came and went and I was alone.

But the melting snow of March gave me hope.

We’ll meet again soon, Neeko.

I came back to our tree.

The blossoms in full bloom much like that first day.

I sit, and pray you got my call.

“He won’t come.” I hang my head and cry.

My hair is moved by a single touch,

Looking up, I see that silly grin.

“Let’s meet again, here.” He whispers

My heart has stopped, and so has time.

I pull you into my embrace.

“What’s your name?”

“Neeko.”

“Lisa.”

We’ve come full circle.
