A name

Proverbs 22:1 New English Translation (NET Bible)

22 A good name is to be chosen rather than great wealth,
good favor more than silver or gold.

Choose your name or inherit it …

A man lives up to his name,

does that make sense at all?

What if your name is Gore

are you then doomed to fall?

Or if your name is Bush,

would you prefer to be a bird

resting upon a branch

as your droppings feed your call?

What is in the name called, “Christian”?

Should you live up to the name, if called?

What if you bring shame to that name

in which you were adopted?

Would your name be engraved

or wiped out by your call?

Is it a name you choose by self

just because you opted?

The easiest name to adopt

is that of a “hypocrite”.

Without trying it on

it fits like a glove.

Even when denying

as it warms you up,

it makes you feel so justified

as you sip from your empty cup.
