My Poem To You

This is my poem to you

And it's not just any ordinary poem

It's a love poem

I want you to know that  I knew you were the one the moment that I met you

And even though you're long gone

I'm still not over you

I know that you probably never even liked me

or maybe you did

Even then, by now I'm nothing more than a distant memorey of someone you once knew

But what I felt for you was real

All those times you'd smile that goofy smile at me

And look at me as if you truly cared

All those times you'd flirt with me

making me feel as if we were the only two people on earth

How you'd steal glances at me when you though I wasn't looking

How'd you whisper just loud enough so that I'd hear how pretty you thought  I was

How you'd jump to my defence whenever anyone dared to so much as tease me

It made me fall for you in the same way an ocean wave hits you at full force

washing you over and making it difficult for it to be ignored

Being around you was painfully awkward and beautifully delightful all at the same time

And even now that the years have passed

distancing your life further and further away from me

smaller waves will resurface, reminding me you and of that love I once felt

In those moments I let them wash over me

as they surround me they pull me back and it's as if I still love you
