To My Greatest Enemy

Failure,

I want to say thank you for always being there.

The fear of you keeps pushing me forward.

And even though I’ve fallen into your opens arms before,

I never stay for too long.

You disguise yourself as an easy path,

A warm fire to sit next to while I rest,

But I think I’ll rest when I’ve passed you.

You claw at my heels and try to defy my strength.

Sometimes you catch me.

I can’t stop though,

Can’t pause even when I escape your alluring smile.

If I do, you’ll win.

And everything I have fought for will be lost.

I won’t let that happen.

But I thank you for the threats,

They keep me company when I am alone.
