To My Future College Roomate

I love to talk. I may talk to you, or I may talk on the phone (yes talk, not text). I may even talk to myself. For me, talking is one of the most amazing things people get to do in this world!

I love food, specifically bacon. It is good in the morning and late at night. I’m a regular at Subway. FYI, when mom comes to visit, her black bean chili is to die for. Speaking of to die for - cue awkward transition - my relationship with Jesus is quite serious. I read, I pray, I serve others; my faith in a nutshell.

I love literature. Period. Multicultural literature, such as Arundhati Roy’s The God of Small Things, currently tops my list, but any hardback book is good enough for me. I write poetry - some good, some exceptionally terrible. My family believes I am messy, so there may be scattered scribblings of half-finished stanzas “near” the trash can.

I’m really interested in you, though. My roommate this summer was different from me in almost every way imaginable. Our religions were different, our sexual orientations were different, and our food tastes were different. But, we became incredible friends and remain so to this day!

So, what’s your favorite food? What do you like to read? What 5 words did you list to describe yourself on the application? Most importantly, what do you value above all else?
