To My Ex-Lover

Wed, 11/29/2017 - 17:37 -- miaw078

You know it's just not fair.

You get to break off a relationship

That I felt like a prisoner in.

You get to "break out"

And take in the fresh air.

Yet I was here along,

Looking at you through silver bars.

You know what's funny?

You made me too weak to free me.

From the way you looked,

My eyes continued to stare.

To the way you talked,

My ears continued to hear.

I hated you.

I wanted to get away from you,

But there was nowhere to go

Except through stone walls.

Your smile lit up the room.

It blinded me.

Your voice filled the air.

It mesmerized my mind.

Although this is all true,

I still wonder why you left me.

Why couldn't you be with me forever like you promised?

Why couldn't you love me?

Was it because I never tried to free myself?

Was it because I was okay with prison just for you?

To my ex-lover,

Tell me the reason why...

You could hurt me so much,

But I still miss your beatings.
