A Mother's Worst Fear

In a matter of minutes, life can change
No matter the moment, no matter the range
The phone may ring and you will hear
"Your son has had a accident, he was hit in the chest"
"We are performing CPR and awaiting a AED"
The questions begin, Your hospital of choice is? Your pediatrician is?
Your life changes, numbness begins and a drive to the hospital you will
never recall.
The longest wait of your life, the sirens you hear from afar outside the Hospital ER
A ambulance, police escort is what you see next with flashing lights and a pause of your heart which feels like the end of your life.
The ambulance backs in and the doors finally open, and inside your child has his eyes wide open and in a frustrated voice simply says. "Stop freaking out Mom, I am truly okay"
