I want to change the world, but if I can change one life, mine is worth it.

I want to be there when the strongest child wants to quit.

I am a nurse by trade, but that also implies,

I am the one to wipe the tears from a child's eyes,

I am the one talking to you at all hours at night,

Because you're far from home and had a fright.

Because your body hurts and you're too young to understand

What "cancer" is and that its spreading in your glands.

and you dont understand why you had to drop out of school,

why mommy is crying, or why fate is cruel.

But I can take care of you like you are my own.

And we can count the little victories. You will never be alone.

I will work tirelessly for you, there is nothing more worthwhile,

Then seeing a little fighter grow stronger and smile.

I will be there as a friend, companion, advoctate, and nurse.

From start to end, for better or worse.
