More Than Corrosion of Copper

Location

Anchored and rooted, full of American life.

A peaked crown full of windows,

Unreachable by the public.

Families and tourists gaze in amazement at the

Immense symbol of freedom and independence.

Still, we contemplate what the copper

Woman could possibly be thinking,

Fixed in a position for so many years.

She holds a torch, fiery and ignited.

It matched her attitude, attracting attention,

Showing her defense for New York City,

and the vast United States.

Chaperone of the city, she baby sits the less

Aware monuments and buildings, guiding them

in her own ways.

Looks can be deceiving, for she seems like a mass of

Corroded copper, left to rust.

This very important woman is much more

Than corrosion of copper.

Anchored and rooted, full of American life.

Sight of her ends bitter conflict and inner strife.
