Money Songs

Rich indulgences entertain rich feelings

I don't want to spend without sentimental meaning

But I require food, and clothes upon my body

So despite my beliefs, I buy all those things shoddy

Perhaps they're not that bad, maybe I should listen

To family and friends, who say that things that glisten

Are less valuable than those

Things not easily disposed

Like laughter and love,

And disaster and hope

And trust me, please do, I want to believe!

That good things come cheap, that emotions are free

But I've been raised to think, and maybe I've been wrong,

That the only things of value are sang in money songs
