That Moment

That moment when you wake up with bedhead,

And trudge down the stairs to miss that last step,

That is your wake-up call in that moment.

That moment when you trudge over to the fridge,

To scrounge around for anything when there’s nothing to eat,

That is your ‘ehh’ moment.

That moment when you constantly try to brush those tangles out of your mophead,

And end up pulling out a huge clump of hair,

That is your ‘this is fantastic’ moment.

That moment when you attempt to spit out toothpaste in the sink,

When in actuality you miss,

That is your frantic ‘did I get any on me’ moment.

That moment when you’re running a late streak,

And trying to find something to wear but can’t,

That is your ‘who cares’ moment.

That moment when you walk into school late,

And you receive a detention for tardiness,

That is your ‘gee, what else could go wrong’ moment.

That moment when you walk through your classroom door,

And realize you forgot to study for that huge exam,

That is your ‘I’m screwed’ moment.

That moment when lunch arrives,

And your friends ditch you at the lunch table,

That is your ‘who needs ‘em anyways’ moment.

That moment when school ends,

And you walk into detention to sit next to the biggest jerk around,

That is your ‘flatter me some more life’ moment.

That moment when you walk home,

And it starts to downpour,

That is your ‘I’m going crazy’ moment.

That moment when you realize you think you’ve gone insane,

Trudge back up those stairs into bed,

And throw the covers back over your head,

Just remember that you learned to be more observant, quit being lazy, have patience, beauty is on the inside, negativity is all you’ll see when you seek it, to try even when you have no idea how, you know who your true friends are, not everything is about you, and that insanity is another way of saying you didn’t spend your day with a smile on your face of endurance in those moments.
