Metamorphosis

Thu, 06/27/2019 - 18:23 -- HAW

Growing up in this world is

Like metamorphosis.

Our small bodies evolve into five feet tall humans

Women stop playing with Barbie and "hang out" with Kylie more.

Unhappiness becomes a serious topic, instead of a matter of fantasy.

People don't always want to be friends, even though they know your mom

Gabe is my new crush this month; sorry, Tom!

Reading Pinkalicious made me feel very seditious in third grade.

Our mindset changes from thoughts about candy to

Worrying about when our science project is due.

Unexpected changes lead us to gain a sense of maturity

Properties are protected by the security.

Global warming exists like a dinosaur's lesson.

Learning about our solar system is more important than "dressing up"

Owning a phone became a sign of popularity after elementary

Writing stories isn't for fun

Unless you love doing your homework.

Policemen are seen as possibly deadly

Guys like Mr. Fenley may seem more friendly

Responsibilities increase each year like taxes

Our first president chopped down trees with axes.

Waking up on the weekends became a bittersweet feeling

Until we're old, we have to work

Prison should've been the place for jerks

Because we're youngins, we feel uncertain

Exposed to the reality of life behind the curtains.

You are growing up; glowing up

Open up your mind to everything

Underneath all that skin, everyone is still a child at heart.
