The Melody

Location

I let the world see my stage-hand once.

I'm dancing across the stage

everyone loves me.

I'm "beautiful".

I'm "amazing".

I spend all my time

living behind this curtain.

Strings attached to my facade

giving them ideal over real.

I'm dancing across the stage

everyone loves me.

But then my strings break.

The curtains

everything

comes crashing down.

The real me was revealed.

The audience in disbelief.

My facade still on stage

trying to fix this mess.

She dances.

She sings.

But not a single person hears her melody.

It's my lips they see moving

it's my body dancing now

and that's all they care about.

I hear her applause

as my facade leaves me there.

Through the tears

I can see everyone leaving me.

I let the world see my stage-hand

once.
