Masters of Our Own Fate

It’s hard to believe how far we’ve come
As we go from learning to walk and talk
To misunderstanding war and love
Pandora’s box has a brand new lock
The end isn’t as far as we hope
It’s approaching like a predator
So we find a mindless way to cope
In the hands of an entertainment mogul
But if existence is that futile
Then we search for new ways to connect
Carbon footprints take us the miles
And Mother Nature’s birthing new defects
So humankind rules the entire land
Then aren’t we to blame for it all
Fields of lush green turn to seas of bland
Factories rest where trees once stood tall
The worlds the hottest it’s ever been
And shark fin soup rests on our pantry shelves
Life is now a matter of where and when
Ignoring that we’re slowly killing ourselves
