Masking Fear

We all cower and worry of one another’s views.

The fear of not being accepted and chosen too.

Someone’s love is all we want to feel,

But if we don’t we mask and keep inside.

I long for a world of love and acceptance.

Not worrying about what others presume,

Not judging one another,

Not killing with hatred but instead with kindness.

If we all lived our lives trying to make others smile,

Our world would be confident, hopeful, and bold.

It saddens my heart that we all have to hide,

Like a mask, feeling we need to change who we are.
