The Marine Mentor

The Marine Mentor

Don’t let anyone tell you that someone with talent can beat you

Strength and tenacity, power and relativity, willingness and reality

This is what will push you through your goal miraculously.

People will come and go, people will help you reap what you sow

What matters is you do not burn your bridges, what matters is

you understand what loyalty is.

You see I know his man I consider a mentor

Bravely go where no man has gone before

Go through hills and valleys no path is too long

He'd help people regardless if they’re his business

See that’s the mind of a leader one that considers where his heart is.

Don’t let anyone tell you that someone with talent can beat you

It is the very aspect of hard work that a talented individual will not pursue

Hard work a word that means more than just to do

It means to understand your very goal and what it says about you

What it says bout the path you are about to take

And the individuals who are willing to lend a hand and not be fake

The individual I talk about who has helped me so

His name is SSgt Galentine a Marines Marine, who has helped me grow

His leadership is almost flawless with some scratches and marks over the years

But what makes a good leader is one who not only speaks, suffers, but one who hears.

The scratches and marks can be related to many a failure but how can one learn

There is bound to be a bump in the road during his tenure.

I would like to take a moment to thank SSgt for believing in me

While I was down for the count and not the most typical applicant

And there may have been doubt he picked me up and told me this truth

Don’t let anyone tell you that someone with talent can beat you.
