The Man Who Tied My Shoes

I never knew

The man who always tied my shoes,

The man that would sing me to sleep

To the tune of the victory march of his favorite team,

The man who took me to my first Irish game,

The man with all jokes lame,

That everyday

He might have the ultimate price to pay.

He leaves at 7 in the morn,

And always return around 5 a little sad and worn.

He protects children from bad men,

By working for the FBI and the government.

He leaves his family everyday, possibly to not return,

Yet he still still from that job could never turn.

I fear for his life everyday,

But I know that selflessness is his way.

Thank you dad for saving so many lives,

To even be half the person you are I try.

I really never knew that it was you,

The man who tied my shoes.
