Making Education MORE Worth it in the Long Run

There is something unique about every school

Each one with their own style

With the same goal in mind for each student,

Is it really worth the while?

It is for those students who want to succeed

And for those who want to know more

They are tested and challenged each day so it seems,

But how can we be quite sure?

With organizations, programs, and boards

The system seems good at the moment,

Classes, regulations, and students

There is always room for improvement

To start, Teachers are important to education,

A “master” can help the gaining of knowledge.

And the potential they have to help

Is an important thing to acknowledge

On the downside however, it’s the ratio to note

Of students to the teachers in control

If they are unproductive and unable to focus

Its then that the chaos takes its toll

Sadly, I’ve been in classes

With the situations like so,

The students uncontrollable as a whole

The pattern was then set for no desire to know

The teacher did try, but it soon was a bust

It was probably harder than it looked

Various students would still want to learn more

But got caught in the “flow” and were “hooked.”

With no work being done, and motivation at none

It seems to be pointless to go on

What is there to do when the teacher is the struggle?

Pass the class not the teacher, is it the only way to go on?

The attitude of a class makes the difference

Such a tiny characteristic can change more than you know

Those teachers who encourage and educate

Have to balance the mix the fun and the education, ya know?

With seriousness in the teaching and remembering

Pieces of the curriculum most important

As a teacher explains each lesson

Don’t assume things are unimportant

The blessing then comes when teachers are understanding

And let the students know that they care

Even with all of the various students they have all around

Let all of them know that your there

Talk to the students, never be intimidated

Teenagers only think they know best

It’s in your best interest to then understand

That your job is not “only” to give them a test

Encourage, motivate, and educate

Add a pinch of fun and inspiration

With all of this put together, in the end

Education can be found worth it in the long run

This is all I have to say about the topic

Take and pick what you choose

Remember the goal of educating students

Because none of them we want to lose

Schools have more impact than realized

From attitudes to enforcing rules

Its time to come to a consensus,

On what we can change in our schools
