Lover's Lullaby

Weeping one-winged angel
sitting in his cage.
Reaching through the bars,
he can'ts control his rage.

For every strike against the bar
he only gains another bruise.
He disdains his own existence, yet is
frightened of all he has to lose.

When the passerby look in,
they see not the tortured soul,
only the love he radiates
from his caring heart unwhole.

From the darkness crawls the lover,
pained by the dark beauty that she sees.
She reaches out to her broken angel,
hoping her touch will finally set him free.
