Poetry has taught me

   That love comes

      But that love also leaves

Poetry has taught me

   To get excited about words

      But that words do nothing to ease your loneliness

Poetry has taught me

   How to express myself

      But also how to hide behind a poem

Poetry has taught me

   To be accepting of others

      Because others have not always been accepting of me
