Little Musings

It's amazing how one thought can lead to ten thoughts

Can lead to a hundred thoughts

Can lead to a thousand thoughts

Swirling around all at once,

Some screaming to be heard and others taking the back burner

Growing exponentially until I'm not even sure what I'm thinking anymore

There's the music in my ears, the words that I'm typing,

The fullness in my stomach and the waiting until 3:53

But then there are the other thoughts,

The little questions and ideas that whisper away,

Whisper away until the whispers grow too loud for me to ignore

Crescendoing into a symphony of violins and trumpets and huge snare drums

A sound that hits me when I am falling asleep or making a sandwich or taking out the trash

What will my future be like?

How does my brain know what to tell my body to do?

I am so small

I want to see the world

Little musings that don't really matter at all

And slip away into the crevices of mind to be thought about some other time
