Lilac to Grey

Everything was lilac

Everything was warm

Everything was simple

You could hear the waves crash on the shore

You could hear the birds singing

You could see the future and it didn't seem out of reach

There was cut grass in the air

There was warm marshmallow painted on your mouth

There was sea salt in your hair

Everything is ominous now

Everything is chilled

Everything seems scrambled like a crossword

But there's not solutions

You can hear dead leaves hit the ground

You can hear cars colliding

You can hear shots of a gun echoing through the streets

It  reeks of death

Air so cold it burns your nose

And your lips are cracked like the pavement below your feet

This darkness feels so normal

Yet a year ago was so full of light

But that was then

And this is now
