Letting Go of What We Used to Know

Sun, 03/09/2014 - 11:42 -- Ekaneti
  • Tears search their way out of her thoughtful eyes

The process of retiring ambitions
was always looming around the corners
and we knew that we would face our failures, ourselves behind the heavy makeup
as we turned the corners, with curdling speed
and crashed against the white walls, that smirked at us through their cracks.

  • Yet we still don't let go...
what's a human race without a winner?

  • We're told that our hopes allow us to live.
But that's a black whole we jump into every morning.
Lies, lies, and we pay a shrink to recite them
when we tire of our own voice.

  • She spent her whole life waiting for this moment,
and I spent three seconds writing that out.
Maybe after something big happens
you realize that it was just a waste of time.
Too bad you used up a life for it
but this isn't a game
three strikes and you're out
this is you, and me, and we
So I wish we could try this again
I wipe the tears, I am ready

  • I'll come, I'll see, I'll conquer
  • I'll win, become champion.

You know I always said
and we always knew
that our ambitions are
extremely difficult to break through.

And again, the tears find their way out of my eyes.
