Learning for the Right Reasons

Location

Salem, Oregon
United States

May I raise my hand; call my name

to air a grievance all the same

Teacher, Teacher; oh noble sage,

Oh how you hone my classmate’s rage.

Though not I’m sure you are to blame,

our learning system, too, a shame

Test, Report, Evaluation;

Challenge they our motivation

To learn only to pass a test;

Shortsighted thought of great distress.

The Joy of learning: to learn itself,

a student’s true measure of wealth.
