Learned to Fear

I’ve long lost respect for the name

The officers play a dangerous war game

Their innocence the media seems to feign

Yet their evil pumps through the black lives veins

A bullet passes through their thin shirts

Making every other person on alert

“It shouldn’t matter to you, you’re just a kid!”

Yet the words seem run through some other kid’s lips

The sound of their pain and agony of their betrayal

Yet the “role models” don’t give a good portrayal

They’re in the gear that they’d use to stop a riot

The world suddenly grows so quiet

They don’t realize the mistake they’ve made

While their forces hold black lives under the blade

It’s as if they reward racism, the killer was paid

For the murder of Mike that he had made

All the other people just say to forget

But how can I forget the threat

Of every single man, holding a gun to their heads

Their lives are hanging by some thin threads

So I have learned to fear of officer’s threats.
