Labels
He was diagnosed with autism
As daunting as the name sounded
His parents were scared, frustrated
But never gave up
Now think about how we as adolescents grow up
Words swirling about us
Even if we fit the "norms" of society
But imagine how they grow up
Forever marked with a label
Distinguishing them from the "normal"
Does this diagnosis really distinguish them from others?
An alien to the world?
SILENCE
Take a minute to remember how you felt at your worse
When words were endlessley thrown at you
When you felt as though you were in the pit of the abyss
Now times this by a thousand
More like an eternity
These labels frustrate them from living their lives
They feel inadequate to our standards
But don't we all?
Don't we all have a moment of akwardness
Or feel like we want to be alone
Labels don't define them
We are all just people
And that is all
