Kind of Caring

Why does it take
the loss of life
Someone or other ending their own strife
To get us to go
"No! No, we won't take it anymore!"
Silence speaks louder and longer than most
And in two weeks, maybe more
We'll be disgusted by the next worst thing to occur
In public, brought to light
And then? Then where will all this urge to fight go?
Out the window
Down the street to walk down some new corridor.

But who cares, right?
Not a victim if everything in your life feels right.
How nice and quaint it must be
to set your kaleidoscope views straight
Till there's a reason to fight knocking on your front door
Just that
No-one will listen or care
Who will fight to change the world for you
when in two weeks time
You forgot your views?

Let's not let it happen
Let's not keep this going
Let's make it so we don't have to lose lives, however undervalued they may seem.
