As a newborn baby I was obnoxious and hard to deal

I was told, “Live life to the fullest & never give up”

But as 5 years went by, my parents were always spanking my rear

But it was fine because there was always a lesson to always hear

 

As a youngster all I cared is to play and have fun

But as 5 years went by, having fun wasn’t the same

Growing older was suddenly became a change

I was told, “Live life to the fullest and never give up”

I was clueless on what my dad was trying to say

But it was fine because I was a young boy not caring about anything

just caring about the fun and games

 

As a teenager things started to change around

We kept moving houses, I kept moving to different schools

Poverty became an issue

I didn’t know what to do

Kept seeing my dad late at night

My dad spoke, “Live life to the fullest and never give up.”

 

As 5 years went by, school and soccer became my pride

Scoring high grades and scoring goals was my dedication to taste success

Although, having problems financially became a stress

My family had a tough time paying rent, paying for food

But that didn't stop me from focusing on my future,

And forgot to mention that I always kept my cool

As days went by, my dad realized I wasn’t in any gang or wasn’t a fool

He realized that I was dedicating myself to go to school

And again, he said, “Live life to the fullest and never give up.”

 

As 5 years went by I’m in College and playing for the soccer team

Slowly achieving my success

And chasing my dream

My dream is to become an academic counselor

Help the students in need

Help their education for they can be whatever they want to be

Despite the struggles

Forget the stress

I have realized that “Live life to the fullest and never give up”

Was a quote that I will never forget.
