it's only temporary

You may feel alone

Like it's always quiet on the other side of the phone
You might mold yourself into the empty spaces
Of a crowded room because being on your own
Feels more at home than the places
Where your shadow is the only one you know

You may feel empty
Like there's a  h o l l o w  cavity in your chest
But you haven't found any dentist that can fill it yet
So until you find a remedy
You find comfort in the melodies
Of silence because that's the only sound you've ever met

But I am here to tell you that it's only temporary
Any darkness you feel inside
For, I promise, you will not be solitary
For the rest of your life

In your loneliest moments you will find company
That's not the quiet that you considered a symphony
No, it will be an awkward band of misfits
That will last more than a one-time visit
It will be midnight memories
That will go down in history

Vacancy will be filled with laughter
And you'll dream of a new ever after
The misfits you chose as friends will be there
No, not friends-- a family no one can outbid
You'll find them, I swear
Because I know I did
