It Rained...

It rained,
It rained on my parade,
I tried to stop it,
The incessant drizzling,
The floods from God,
The tears from heaven,
I tried to stop it,
But I couldn't, so it rained.

I put my faith in an umbrella,
Held it up high to face the drops,
But the rain persisted,
And the harsh winds attacked me,
Rendering me useless,
I tried to stop it,
But I couldn't, so it rained.

Alas I decided to fight back,
Put my fists to the task,
Me against the rain,
But I was no match for the tiny, fierce drops,
They caged me in their grips,
And I was outmatched,
I tried to stop it,
But I couldn't, so it rained.

I had no choice but to cease,
Cease my attempt to fight back,
Instead I gave up,
Submitted to the will of the waterfalls from the sky,
I let the rain hit me,
Hit me with all might and power,
And that, it did.

I lost the battle,
One I didn't plan on fighting,
Me against the rain,
The rain against I,
At last I looked to God,
Prayed a little prayer,
But was it too late?
Would He help me at this moment?

It rained,
It rained on my parade,
I tried to stop it,
The incessant drizzling,
The floods from God,
The tears from heaven,
I tried to stop it,
But I couldn't, so He did...
