Innocence and Experienced Poems Head to Head

Innocence and Experience poems

TO MOM AND DAD
I wanna travel this world!
I want to live in the city!
I want to eat chocolate and bread!
AND I want to stay skinny!

mom and dad you don't understand!
you just don't know!
the amazing writer ill become!
like HENRY DAVID THOREAU!

a small apartment ill live in
and ill give to the poor
plus i'll shop and ill shop
ill be so grandeur

mom and dad you don't get it!
country folk you both are!
i'll make it as a writer!
though you think it's bizarre!

TO OUR DAUGHTER
We don't think it's bizarre
to follow your dream
but it's so narrow
such a mess of a scene

a doctor, a lawyer,
a denist, a teacher
anything will do
EVEN A PREACHER

if you think a being a writer
will pay the bills
you're sadly mistaken
and it gives us chills

but you're all grown up
and you know it all
so follow those dreams
and call us if you fall

This poem is about:
Me
My family
