Indestructible

Chained by my emotions,

Too afraid to leave my heart open

so I hide it away

Love?

I don't even give myself the chance.

Soon as I see it coming

I hit the ground running,

Running, and I don't look back!

Call myself trying to save me from pain,

So why do I feel this way (unlovable)

I made the walls around my heart INDESTRUCTIBLE

Some of y'all have got to hear me

Too afraid to give your all and end up empty.

Still, it takes a toll on you

when you know he's got a hold on you

But you're so resistant to love - he can't even get close enough

Rather it ends before it begins

So I say goodbye to what could have been.

Call myself trying to save me from pain,

So why do I feel this way (unlovable)

I made the walls around my heart INDESTRUCTIBLE

I know there've got to be some good ones left

And I know love ain't through with me yet

See you've got to know, when I fall I fall hard

And when I love, I love hard

so if I give you my heart, you've got my all

And if you break through my walls

My love is INDESTRUCTIBLE

I know it's long, but take the time and read it because I know I'm not the only one who feels this way sometimes...

You're not... :-)

That last line really got to me. "my love is INDESTRUCTABLE"

What a powerful message. Love is vulnerability, and you portrayed that in every line, but you also depicted hope, strength, and empowerment beyond doubt.
