I close my eyes and this is what I see, (what I see)
A beautiful world, without me, (imagine that)
Certain events, just make you think,
2-young-black-women, just died in 3 weeks,
-Jesus, things happen with reason,
Reasons that just can't be pushed under the rug,
-And no, I didn't know em', but still,
I'm a show em' some Love, I pray they live up-above,
Man, we are dropping like flies, we gotta stop living lies,
Like we decide, who lives, and who dies-and realize,
That it's not us, but the man who resides in the skies,
I was just about to fight,
When a wise man told me-"just go home son",
I said-"why", he said,
"Because you have a temper, and your actions right now,
Could get you burned in the long run",
The thought of not succeeding, gets my heart to pounding,
I walked outside to look at my surroundings,
Then I realized, I'm the "Big-Brother" to all the little kids around me,
But why look up to me-a man with a "hot-head", why look up to me???
Because living in a broken home, needing someone strong,
They could always put their trust in me,
Have you ever did something wrong, and thought,
"I don't deserve my life"???? Well you might have been right,
But the Lord up-above helps you in your darkest hours, into the light,
Use the head on ya shoulders while you can,
Cause you could fall-hit-ya-head, and then it's the end,
They said-"you can picture anything in ya head",
Well tell me, can you imagine being dead???????

While I was reading this poem, I thought it read like a rap song, especially the beginning with the words "I close my eyes / and this is what I / see, (what I see) A beautiful world, / without me," The words are so heartfelt and powerful. Have you thought about turning this poem into a song, or have you already? Maybe you could make a video of yourself singing your poem, and upload it to the site!
