"I'm starving"
4 hours until lunch.
The high school student's brain won't function
until they've eaten their school-time luncheon.
12 noon has finally arrived,
the students rush down the stairs
calling out hungry cries.
Lunch has come and gone for the day,
wasted food is thrown away;
guess they weren't actually starving today.
"I'm starving"
Lunch for this child might never arrive.
Nor will dinner, breakfast, or a midnight snack.
School can't provide food for this child
School hasn't touched the hearts of children here in awhile.
Third-world or developing,
these countries need helping.
A grain of rice,
a roll of the dice,
food they they thought,
would be nice.
As the high school student throws their food scraps away,
would they ever realize it could feed at least one child for a day?
