I'm Not Listening

I hear you speak to me

I can hear the decibels rise

The waves reach my ears

Yet your words hold no meaning

To me.

They are hollow

As lifeless as a doll,

With painted sincerity

And black hollow eyes.

You want me to believe you are a normal person,

That you have simple dreams

Simple goals

And simple wishes.

You expect me to believe

You’re a god fearing individual.

Yet I know the truth.

For if you can live in splendor

With a multi-million dollar home

And riches beyond imagination

All built from your mountain of lies.

All this while saints live squalor

Their houses of mud

And disease pulsing through their blood

Their stomach devoid of all nutrition

While yours is large and full of other people’s work.

You are not worthy of my attention.

You are not worthy of the air you breath.

You are not worthy of the life you have been given.

And I know the truth.

For if you can talk my ear off with hollow words through white teeth

While the bum on the street

With a stab wound in the ribs

Dies slowly with no words to speak

I know that there is no god.

And I say to you,

Go straight to hell.

I am not listening to you.
