If You Could Choose Just One Thing...

How do you choose just one thing to make the world a better place?

Do you go big?

Or do you go small?

Is there one thing that is greater than another?

Some things don't make a big difference,

But some things do.

Is it possible to choose just one?

Yes...But which?

It could be as simple as the type of roads we drive on,

Or as large as world peace, and an end to war.

Could it be the cure to a superbug that would save millions from devastation?

Yes, but will it be what you choose?

Or would you rather find good homes for every orphaned child in the world?

Perhaps you'd choose instead, to find a way to feed every starving soul on the planet.

These are both honorable and admirable goals.

But will it be what you choose?

Would you change the invention of nuclear power plants?

So their products could not be used maliciously?

Or would you wish that nuclear power had never been discovered,

To spare the many lives that have been lost?

Is this what you will choose?

Or would you save all those who have been afflicted with mental or physical sufferings,

As a result of neglect, abuse, or debauchery by others?

This is a noble wish indeed.

However, is it what you will choose?

Maybe, instead you would change how the world communicates,

How people act and the attitude they hold.

Could this really transform the world?

YES. And it IS what I choose.

"But how could this change the world?" you may ask.

How people speak and act, is it really so important?

My answer to you is, "It makes ALL the difference!"

And I'll tell you why.

If people were kind in their actions and with their words, would their be war?

No, there would be no threats, only compromises and solutions.

Would children be orphaned if everyone was truly responsible?

No, only as a result of natural disasters.

Would people starve if everyone was full heartedly working for a solution?

No, too many people would be doing all they could to help those in need.

If everyone was willing to act in kindness, would nuclear weapons ever have been developed?

No, there would never have been a need for them.

If everyone was kind and charitable would people be abused, debauched, or disregarded?

No, because they all would be looking out for each other.

Everyone would be loved, and their needs met.

No one would suffer as a result of another person's lack of caring or responsibility.

So, what would I choose if I could choose one thing to change the world?

I wish that everyone would speak and act with Benevolence and Responsibility.
