If We Could, Would We?

Let my soul slip through my fingers

Is that what we all think to ourselves

Giving into to a short life

Thinking I chose for myself

What if we didn’t know our body’s ended?

Would we live in peace

Scars of words written to cover my face

Wishing for another’s vessel

We can’t appreciate

any more than our own

What if we didn’t know our face’s structure?

Could we love ourselves then

Give me strength to keep running

We all want to win

Throwing others down

Towards the same finish line

What if we all went the same pace?

If we could, would we

Deep in myself I consider loss

We all hide in fear

Thinking it makes you stronger

To build walls against each other

What if they all breakdown?

Could we be anything after that

I don’t hear the world anymore

When we start to sleep

Just whimpers and screams

Fill the corners in

What if we never fall into anything?

Would emotions exist

I’m surrounded by entitlement

“American Dream”

We believe to mean

“I deserve this, it's mine”

What if we all the breath in the same world?

If we could would we

There’s no hope in humanity

Does everyone say that

What have we come to

We can’t even believe in ourselves

What if we always stood up when we had to?

If we could

Would we

We should
