If Thou Didst Ever Hold Me in Thy Heart

Location

If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart,

absent thee from felicity awhile,

and in this harsh world draw thy breath in pain,

to tell my story.

If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart,

listen carefully to me.

For thou tears shall not fall, why

weep tears of joy and not of sorrow.

My mortal journey has now ceased,

like the candle that has been blown,

Today I have commenced a spiritual journey.

If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart,

spread my story and thou never let me go.

For I wish my essence not be forgotten.

generations will chant my name.

Those who I will see, will not see me,

but they will know my story forever more.

If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart,

do not forget my name.

Oh beloved brother! I shall not rest if thou

lips do not mention my name!

If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart,

bring me flowers now and then.

If thou didst ever hold me in thy heart,

Come to my tomb and share with me your sorrows.

For you and I will always be connected,

Forever more.
