If Only You Knew

If only you knew what it is that you do,

the trouble you make, the anxiety you create,

When you send out emails 3 days before class

saying you want an assignment post haste.

If only you knew the power you have,

That one test that dropped my grade,

and my gpa

my scholarship gone.

If only you knew what I have to go through

work 15 hours a week, 6 classes,

supporting myself, trying my hardest.

If only you knew, that it isn't true,

that my generation isn't lazy

narcissisistic and material obsessed.

Well I'm telling you now,

I am more than a student, more than a body or a number.

Your class is not the only worry I have, the only burden on my back.

I don't like to dissapoint, it's not fun to tell you I didn't do what you wanted me to do.

I want you to know I care,

I swear I do,

but you need to understand what it is that you do.
