If Only

Hand in hand we walk.

We know where we’re going,

but we never talk.

Down the street we stroll;

never stopping,

and never hearing the bells toll.

And as time becomes the past,

we don’t tire,

and we still last.

If only.

If only I could tell you.

Tell you, “I love you.”

I can remember a time when I called you friend,

but now I want to call you more.

And now that you’re gone,

my heart won’t mend.

If only.

If only I could call you back.

If only you were mine to hold.

If only,

if only I could see what we lacked.

Will you ever feel the same?

The same love and passion that I have for you.

Hand in hand we walk.

We know where we’re going,

but we never talk.

Down the street we stroll;

never stopping,

never hearing the bells toll.

And as time becomes the past,

we don’t tire,

and we still last.

If only.

If only this story was true.

If only.

If only I could tell you even once.

Tell you, “I loved you.”
